My Approach

Humans are meant for connection and can thrive within experiences of positive, growth fostering relationships.  I believe that experiences of disconnection fuel human suffering. These disconnections can be experiences of social and cultural oppression, exposure to traumatic event(s), and experiences of abuse. Through exploring these disconnections, individuals can better understand the root of their suffering and begin to work towards healing and forming positive connections. In counseling I use an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a Relational-cultural theoretical approach which assists in decreasing unfavorable thoughts and beliefs contributing to symptoms while making space to explore the impact of chronic disconnection and cultural conditioning.
